When we started our business in the late 1960s, we bucked the trend, recognising that the policy of local authorities nationwide to demolish vast swathes of Victorian and Edwardian property was a shortsighted easy option.
Rather than to build ugly, identical and cheap modern housing estates, many of which have already been bulldozed, it was our vision to carefully restore these magnificent properties. Our solution was renovation and not demolition.
Working with the local authority in Liverpool, we persuaded them to help us redevelop these historical masterpieces. Soon the attention to detail in our craftsmanship and the efficiency of our building programmes brought us recommendations for projects across the region.
Next were St Helens, Prescot, Haydock and Newton le Willows. Salford followed and soon other councils and urban renewal companies adopted our approach and methods.
We currently have sales and lettings in the rapidly evolving West Didsbury Village in Greater Manchester, and sales on the idyllic Isle of Anglesey.
See for yourself why John Wood Urban Renewal has been so successful.
